Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I woke up feeling crummy (at around 9 A.M.) this morning and I decided to take a Mucinex maximum strength pill (1200 mg). I m starting to feel better and since it s Friday I was wondering how long it would take for the Mucinex to leave my system entirely. Also, what time will I be able to consume alcohol tonight, if at all possible?
It may take about 25-30 hours to leave your system. Mucines has an elimination of half life is about 3 to 5 hours. It would take about 5 half lives of this drug to be completely eliminated from your system.
So, avoid taking alcohol tonight because this combination may cause dizziness, drowsiness, nausea and vomiting and moreover alcohol and mucinex can also cause liver damage.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
