How Long Will Sulfamethoxazile Take To Cure Bladder Infection?

I have had a bladder infection for a week nw, I went to the doctor ans they gave me sulfamethoxazile, i have being taking it for 5 days nw but I still urinate very often and pain in my belly bottom. The doctor told me tht it work in 2 day. My question is how long does this medicine takes to work.

Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Sulfamethazole for urinary tract infection is given for 5 to 7 days usually. With in 2 to 3 days it will show the effects. But if you still have pain and discomfort after 5 days then antibiotic is not working and you need to do a culture and sensitivity test and take antibiotics according to that. If you were my patient in such case i would switch on to antibiotic Nitrofurantoin and send urine for culture and change antibiotic if necessary after culture report. Taking cranberry juice and barley water will be helpful in alkalizing urine and relieving symptoms.
