How Long Will Headache, Neck Pressure Despite Codeine, Caffeine And Fluids Persist?

MY husband had a lumber puncture for diagnosis of multiple sclerosis four days ago. He still has a severe headache and neck pressure despite codeine, caffeine and fluids. It is relieved when he lies flat. How long will this go on and is there anything else he can do?
