How Long Will It Take For A Fracture To Heal?

Hi I fractured my left index distal phalanx with a hammer at work. It's been about a Month and a half (11/15/2010) since it happend. I'am seeing a hand surgeon for the third time 2 weeks from now. My question is HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE to HEAL? (i think its a comminuted fracture) Because when I went to see the surgeon the 2nd time on 12/22/2010 he said there wasnt any Change. I ALSO NOTICED THAT MY FRACTURED LEFT FINGER LOOKS A BIT LONGER THEN MY RIGHT ON, IS THIS NOMAL BCAUSE IF IT WAS NOT PROPerly set I assume the doctor would have said so. Thank you
