How Long Will It Take To Clear Effects Of Minocycline From Body And Is Erythromycin A Good Alternative While Trying To Conceive?

Hi Im taking Minocycline for acne and will be trying for a baby soon, I understand there are risks with this medication & pregnancy. I will stop taking this drug before we start trying for a baby, how long would it take to leave my system & when would it be safe ? Is Erythromycin a good alternative? Thankyou Kylie

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic,
The half life of minocycline is less than a day. So there is no problem trying for pregnancy immediately after stopping the tablet. There is no guideline for wash out period for minocycline as far as I know.
Yes erythromycin is a good alternative as it is safe in pregnancy.
Hope this helped,
Take care.
