How Long Would Biopsy And Associated Results Take?

My sister received a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound today and was told that she has multiple lumps in her breast and armpit. She also is having back aches, blurred vision, and pain in her left ear. She has been told to get a biopsy, scheduled two days from now, and that she can expect results within three to four days. Is there a faster way for her to receive a biopsy and associated results? If she was admitted to the ER, would the biopsy and results be available? Is the length of time for the results based on the length of time it takes to actually process the results or because of the amount of tests they have to run?

Hi,

The ER would still have to refer her to someone to have the biopsy done, they would not do the procedure and the waiting time will unfortunately.

The waiting is based on the number of technologists, the volume of tests and the time it takes to accurately determine the result.

You can try contacting differently labs to see if the turnover time is faster.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
