How Many Days In Advance Of Holiday Doxycycline Stopped?

I am taking doxycycline and will soon be going on holiday where I will get a lot of exposure to sun. My doctor says I should stop taking the doxycycline while I am away and start again when i get back. How many days in advance of the holday should I stop taking the doxycycline
