How Many Doses Are Required For A Dog Bite?

Sir I had a dog bite..dint saw scratch..but next day went to doctor as my left leg was paining n had bit of swelling too. Doctor found a mark on leg n i got vaccinated I took dose on third day too.How many doese i need to take..0, 3 28 or 0, 3, 7, 10, 28. Thanks!

Hi,

It depends upon your vaccination status. If you have not received the vaccine earlier, then you have to take four doses of vaccine on days 0, 3, 7, 14.

If you are previously vaccinated then you need to take only two doses on days 0 and 3.

If the dog is available and found to be healthy even after 10 days then there is no need to take the last (FOURTH) dose of the vaccine.

If the dog cannot be traced and observed, then you will have to take the fifth dose of the vaccine as well.
