How Much Folic Acid Should Be Taken In Last Trimester?

Hi, My wife is 26 weeks pregnant. My doc wrote the below medicines to take on daily basis. 1) Ecosprin75mg 2) Becosules/Fol123 (Alternate days) 3) Supracal XT 4) Globac Active. My question here is Fol123 has 5 mg and Gloabac Active has 1.5mg and Becosules has 1.5 mg of folic acid. So how much folic acid need to take in last trimester. Also pls let me know about the need of ecosprin in last trimester.

Hello sir and welcome.

Folic acid is usually required for a duration of 5 months, either 3 months before conception and 2 after or the other way round. If your doctor has drcided to continue with the vitamin supplementation, it is probably because there is a deficiency which can be corrected by calculating the amount required. So only your doctor can tell you how much is need.

As for the ecosprin, your wife may be predisposed to clot formation that can result in a miscarrige, which is why the ecosprin has been prescribed.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
