How Often Should Hypoechoic Lesions Should Be Checked?

Hello, I had a neck ultrasound performed in April 2013 and dr found 2 small hypoechoic lesions on my right thyroid. How often should I have these checked? I also have PVC s (premature ventricular contractions) and hair loss, but my thyroid and hormone levels are normal. Any suggestions? Thank you for your time.

Hello,
I have gone through your query.

You have mentioned about your neck Ultrasound report. Actually these hypoechoic lesions must be very small and not suspicious enough, otherwise your doctor would have performed or suggested a needle examination or an "FNAC". What I am getting from your query is that Doctor has asked you to follow up after some time. These small "hypoechoic lesions" can be simple cysts which do not carry any risk.

What I would suggest is that you can get them evaluated by ultrasound neck every 6 months along with a blood examination for thyroid hormones. If you feel sudden swelling in neck, then you can report immidiately. You can also do self neck examination regularly.

Hope I have answered your query.

Thanks and regards
