Hi,

Mebendazole belongs to the group of medications known as anthelmintic medications that is used to treat nematodes infestation such as roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, threadworm, pinworm and trichinosis. It can also be used in the treatment of hydatid disease caused echinococcus granulosus. It works by killing and paralyzing the parasites as well as helping to eliminate them in the feces by the blocking the uptake of glucose. In case of pinworm infection, a single dose of Mebendazole is recommended and if necessary, then another single dose can be taken after 3 weeks.

For other type of common worm infections, twice daily dose of Mebendazole for 3 days is recommended and if necessary, then repeat the same dose schedule after 3 weeks. You should take this medication according to your doctor's advice. Dosage and duration of treatment will depend on your health condition and response to the treatment. Before the start or stop of this medication, you should consult your doctor first.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
