Hello! :)...I've been using Duac gel for about 5 days and it has almost completely cured my acne...my question is, can i keep using it or will my skin grow immune to it and reduce the effects it has on it? Would I be better off if i use it sparingly only during a bad break out? Thank you for your advice in advance! :)
Duac gel is a combination of clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide. It is a very a good topical, anti acne medicine. Works very well for inflammatory acne.
It is generally not recommended for maintenance as it can lead to irritation. Resistance to this combination is not much of a concern, rather benzoyl peroxide decreases the chances of developing resistance to clindamycin as well.
Because acne is a recurrent condition, the concern for a maintenance therapy is genuine. For maintenance I usually prescribe topical Adapalene once daily at night, because its is comedolytic as well as antiinflammatory.
