Hi Doctor, I was wondering. I recently had a colonoscopy and it really aggravated my hemroids, both internally and externally. I have been using stool softeners, high fiber diet, lots of water and applying suppositories and cream. If I have to have hemroid surgery to remove them, how painful is it and how long will the pain from the surgery last?
Hemorrhoids surgery is done under general or spinal anaesthesia. So, do not worry. You will not have pain during surgery. After sugery, pain killers and anxiolytic drugs may be given to reduce the pain. So just be calm and go for surgery, if you doctor suggested. I hope you got my answer.
Thanks.
