How Reliable Are Blood Tests For Detecting Damage In The Liver?

I went back to my Dr a year after hec c treatment. I ask if there was a way to check for liver damage other than a biopsy, and I was told yes. They drew blood and sent off for results. How reliable is this test with detecting if there is damage to the liver??

Hey there,
thanks for posting in HealthcareMagic.
I read your query and understand your point of concern.

That's true blood test is done to look for liver function and it's reliable.
Any abnormal result denotes impaired liver function .

Other than blood test, ultrasonography and CT scan can also be done to monitor liver damage.

Hope It will help u.
Wish your good health.
Regards
Dr. Farhana
