How Safe And Effective Is Partial Hysterectomy For Fibroid Tumor?

I have scheduled a partial hysterectomy for a fibroid tumor. My uterus is the size of a 10 week fetus. My doctor didn't recommend any other option except the partial hysterectomy, which will be via the da vinci robotic. I am 43, will have no more children (have tubes tied). However from what I read, even the partial will cause hormonal changes. What I have read makes it sound like I should check into a myomectomy.....
