Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if you are allergic to soaps and detergents and it is leaving your index finger dry, itchy and cracked then the best way to relieve the symptoms is application of steroid based cream like Momate that contains active ingredient Mometasone..
But the steroids has a side effect of skin thinning and it is the same that you are experiencing..
The best way to avoid allergic symptoms is to avoid exposure to the allergens and you can wear waterproof gloves before you handle detergents and soaps..
In case if still there is allergic reaction you can take anti allergics like Levocetrizine to relieve itching..
You can apply a thick coat of Petroleum jelly and other emollients to relieve dryness and help in healing..
You can also apply calamine lotion to soothe the skin..
Do cool compresses..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
