How Safe Is Taking Doxycycline For Lyme Disease?

I was prescribed doxycycline for lyme disease rash and the pill is stuck in my throat. I was told by the urgent care provider that if it gets stuck it can cause an ulcer in the esophagus and to go to the er. Is there anything I can do to dislodge it and avoid going to the er?
