How Safe Is Taking Metformin To Initiate Menstrual Cycle ?

Hi Dr. Jain.My daughter is turning 17 and she doesn't have her periods. Initially she had irregular periods at age 13 for a year then nothing after. She is little overweight all her hormone levels are normal. her doctor is starting her on metformin is this the right choice
