How Safe Is To Take SMZ-TMP DS For UTI?

I m 70 years old female. I ve been diagnosed with UTI and prescribed SMZ/TMP DS 800-160, 6 pills to be taken 1x2day for 3 days. I m on prednisone 7 mg day and have been talking it for three years. I don t like to take drugs and after reading about all the side effects, I m wondering how safe it is?

Hi,
sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim i.e; SMZ-TMP DS is safe in Urinary tract infections.
PLease dont worry it is a broad spectrum antibiotic.
