How Safe Is Traction For L4 L5 Degenerative Disc?

I have been diagnosed with L4 L5 degerative disc. My vertabrae has some arthritis showing and a spur on each. I am currently seeing a chiropractor who has used decompression and now is doing traction will this help? or should I see an orthopedic doctor
