How Serious Is To Have A Hole In Heart?

Hi. I just found out that i have a hole in my heart. My cardiologist was very vague and did not tell me where it was and how bad it may be. Im 21 and have never had heart problems before but both my mother and older sister have heart problems. Should i be concerned?

Hi
yes you should be concerned about the hole in the heart, it can be a atrial septal defect or ventricular septal defect or padent ductus arteriosus. a 2d echo should be done to rule out the size , location and nature of the hole, different types of defects are treated differently.
A 2d echo should be done asap for further plan of action.
