How Should Flomax HDL Capsules Be Taken?

Can capsule containing 24 Hour release Flomax HDL 0.4 be safely administered by opening capsule into a tiny bit of applesauce. Patient has alzheimers and thinks he must chew capsule. He has been taking it one year and also has cancer and is in hospice. I am asking for his 74 year old wife. Patient is 76.

No, capsule can not be break.
This is sustained release capsule (24hours).
So it should be taken intact.
This capsule has mechanism of slow disintegration in stomach and intestine to deliver drug for all 24 hours.
So it should be taken intact without breaking.
