Hello
I want to tell you one thing that in ordinary cases virus develops antigen antibody reaction and a life long immunity developed for that particular virus that infected body.
But question in your case is cough still present .
In my opinion your viral bronchitis is aright but the reason of cough may be otherone .
In my opinion the cause of cough is allergy and when such type of patient visit in my clinic I usually advise them to take monteleukast+ bambuterole ( combo pack ) once or twice in a day orally .
2nd reason of your cough may be bronchiectasis , get in an X ray of chest .
Consult a physician and get his opinion as physical examination is very important in this type of cases.
Good luck.
