How Should Propranolol Be Taken For The Treatment Of Anxiety?

I am taking propranolol for the first time. I have just been diagnosed with anxiety, and my doctor told me to take this up to twice daily, as needed. But, in reading the literature on it, I m supposed to take it regularly. Right now I am on a daily dose of citalopram (20mg- reduced to 10mg for me by my doctor because my body is very sensitive to drugs and I had some strong reactions to the 20mg) for my anxiety also- the propranolol is to be taken with it, as my anxiety attacks occur. Should I take the propranolol with food before bed? Thanks for answering my questions, doctor.

Hi,

Propranolol should be taken after snacks or food, initially 10 mg once daily and later increase as per the requirement up to 40 mg per day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
