How Should A Fecal Sample Be Stored?

how shall I store the fecal sample I retrieve for my labwork? its a plastic stick(swab) with no cotton in a small container that is then put in a biohazard bag that im putting in a ziplock (so as not to accidently contaminate anything in my home). I need to store them till the lab opens on tomorrow(Friday) (today is Thursday10:30) or Monday when they open, if I haven t gotten all three by tomorrow during open hours?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The fecal sample should be collected into clean, dry plastic jars with screw-cap lids. For best results, the fecal sample should be brought to the laboratory immediately however, it can be refrigerated, then taken to the laboratory for no longer than 24 hours.

Be sure to label a specimen container with the patient's sticker, the date, and the time and see that it does not get mixed up with urine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
