How Should A Finger Fracture, Dislocation And Ligament Tear Be Treated?

Hi,

recently i dislocated my right hand pinky with volleybal. It stood just a little above 45 degrees. someone who had a medical background, put it back in place.

2 days later i hooked it on a door and it went out again. i went to ER and they took a sonar and xrays of the pinky. only the sonar picked up that the inside ligaments was torn, and there was a extremely small fracture almost not noticable

the dr then proceeded to tell me that i must just let the finger rest for 2-3 days, he did not splint it, or buddy strapped it. its been 2 weeks now, and the finger is still swollen on the side the ligaments torn, and i cannot make a straight finger it bends forward a little no matter how hard i try

was this correct from the dr or should i go to another one for a 2nd opinion?
