How Should Acute Depression, Anxiety With Insomnia Be Treated?

I have a 30 year old son who is in the early stages of divorce. He is extremely anxious and depressed. The doctor has prescribed buspar and then lexapro, however these both have caused more anxiety and insomnia. I would like to know which antidepressant would be the best for him to try next

Hello
Welcome to HCM.
Usually all the antidepressants (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) can cause anxiety and insomnia initially. However paroxetine is an SSRI which cause sedation.
I think this is the next best antidepressants which your son should try. Discuss about this with your psychiatrist.

Hope this helps you.
Thanks.
