How Should Birth Control Pills Be Taken?

Hi, I have a question regarding birth control. I am on a triphasic pill, and decided to push back my period by taking an additional week of the third week of pills in a new pack, which I m told was a safe method by my doctor. However, I want to know if I HAVE to finish that whole week of active pills before going into my period week or if, having taken four of them, can go straight to placebo now? Will I be protected?

Hello dear. Welcome to ask a doctor service.

I read your question and here is my advice.

I think you can stop taking the pills and continue with placebo. You will be protected and period will come.
Take care.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best regards.
