How Should Contraceptive Pills Be Taken?

Usually I take my contraceptive pill in the mornings, but on Wednesday I forgot to, so I took it when I came home at night. I thought that this had changed my body clock so the next day, I also took it at night. But now I have my period even though I still take the yellow pill everyday.

Hello,

The correct way to take the contraceptive pill is to take it every day at the same time. But if you forget a dose, it should be taken as soon as you remember and the next dose should be taken at the usual time.

In your case, you should have taken the next dose in the morning and continued as before.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma Amman
