Dear sir i can understand your concern i am very sorry for condition of your father. in my opinion the medication given for your father is called steroid this steroid will increase blood sugar its advisable to readjust insulin dose when patient is on steroid for a smooth blood sugar control. usually steroids will control skin allergy and some autoimmune disorders very well. i suggest you to take opinion of your doctor for further medication regarding skin problem
