How Should Disc Protrusion And Bulging, Disc Height Loss, Degeneration Be Treated?

Hi, Having had bad lower back pain for the past 3 months I have just had my mri results..I have disk protrusion at L4-5 n lesser extent L5 S1 with loss of disk height and signal. Joint degenerative change facet joint fluid bilaterally at L4-L5 also...What would you recommend? My doctor says rest for another month n maybe the bulge will receed
