How Should Irregular Periods Be Treated?

I got my first period on Christmas Eve 2008. Ever since then I have been having irregular periods. Most times I won't get my period once a month. I haven't had my period since the end of june. When I do get it it's always at different times of the month. Once I didn't get it for 4 months and had it for 3 months. Is there something wrong with me? I haven't told my mom and i don't want to. What can I do to solve this on my own?
