How Should Ribs Pain And Breathlessness Due To Injury Be Treated?

I fell over a chair and on to a small table, hitting my ribs. I can't move really at all and the pain is hard to describe. It hurts to breathe and I am not sure if my ribs are broken or fractured. Also, I do not know how to treat my injury, and I would prefer not going to the doctor. Thank for your time.
