How Should Swelling And Redness After A Bite Be Treated?

my son was bit by something while playing baseball in the phoenix area. It was yesterday. he swatted at it with his glove but never saw anything. tonight it is swolen and a bit red. he has no other symptoms. so i guess it would rule out scorpions black widows and brown recluses. any ideas?

hello,

it seems that 24 hr already passed out. As you said there is swelling and redness.

If it was due to black widow or brown reclusae spider, there should be systemic symtoms like
Chills
Fever
Nausea and vomiting
Severe abdominal pain

But there is no any.

You can have home remedies like ice scrubbing over bitten part.
you can also have NSAIDs like aceclofenac for pain and swelling.
If needed you can add cetrizine as an antihistaminic.

By the time if any systemic sign appears (very very less chance) consult nearby doctor.
