How Soon After A Colon Polyp Removal Is Colonoscopy Advisable?

Is there a name for a flat colon polyp (not standing up like a mushroom as shown in most graphics on the subject). I had one of these removed and it was difficult and painful to remove and had to be dug out and then stapled. How serious is this? How soon after should I have a follow up colonoscopy?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, you have polyp in colon that was removed now if you have any warning signs like blood in stool or any weight loss you need to get colonoscopy urgently otherwise once a year would be good for you to look for any transformation into malignancy. Regular gastroenterologist review is highly recommended.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
