How To Ascertain That My Wrist Is Broken Or Sprained?

I fell over last Saturday on a wet floor and hurt my wrist. I've been backwards and forwards to hospita; Doctors think I may have broken my Scaphoid bone. I had an X-ray last Sunday and it didn't show anything. I had an MRI on Friday and I get the results back today. It's really painful at times but other times it doesn't seem to bad. Do you think it may be broken or Just sprained? And is there a chance the MRI wont pick up a break if there is alot of brusing to the scaphiod bone?
