My friend just fell some some stairs when I was texting him, and he thinks his rib is broke, he was having trouble breathing and said he was puking blood, he called an ambulance and I lost contact with him, he lives in another state, so i was wondering if the puking blood is serious, I m scared for him

I think your friend is having pulmonary contusion secondary due to rib fracture. The treatment of rib fracture is simple. No operation needed. Rib belt for minimal mobilization of fractured segment of the rib. Cough suppressant are also useful with painkillers. Better to start with antibiotic levofloxacin to avoid infection in pilmonary contusion.
