How To Avoid Infection After Popping Of Lump In Buttocks?

I was in a lot of pain I couldn t sit, barley walk, and above my buttcrack was swollen. I finally discovered that there was a lump right on the inside of my upper buttcrack and that seemed to be the cause of the pain. It came to a head and popped (guessing it was a cyst) so I ve made sure to keep the area extremely clean and help it drain but what should I do now. Also the pain is gone and so is the swelling.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The lump and swelling on the upper part of the buttocks sounds like fistula. If this is your case, this is a type of abscess with many internal buttons. You should see a proctologist to get further examined. Meanwhile, try to keep the area well clean.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
