My 25 yr old wife had severe headache for about 8-10 days for which she kept taking painkillers like Saridon and Disprin. Later when we went to a doctor, she was diagnosed with very high blood pressure (200/120). We were advised other tests which included kidney creatine levels. Her creatinine levels are at 2.4 (twice the normal range). For the past two weeks her blood pressure is normal with regular medication. I want to check with you if the high creatinine could be brought under control by monitoring the blood pressure levels. How dangerous is this level? What precautions can we take to ensure that there are no further damage to the kidneys. Regards Abhishek
Hi.Taking Nsaids (pain killers) for long also effect your creatinine levels and so do Your high BP.If creatinine levels are already 2.5 times the normal it means kidney damage. Sometimes, creatinine levels are not much raised and still patients are found to have end stage renal disease. This means it should be taken seriously and consult your dr. regarding this,. Get one ultrasound whole abdomen to see the status of kidneys and if required you may be asked to get renal scintigraphy done, where we see functioning of kidneys. Take low protein and high carbohydrate diet and avoid extra salt and restrict fat for hypertension. Thanks.
