How To Confirm If The Tampon Is Not In Place?

The other day I put in a tampon, it was the very very end of my period so i was barely bleeding at all, but i had all day plans and didnt want to have to worry about bleeding. I left it in all day and the next morning got up and remembered i needed to take it out, and it wasnt there. I have checked nmerous times for it and there is nothing there, I cant feel anything, and think i am reaching my cervix each time. I dont know if i got up in the middle of the night to take it out and dont remember, but I am almost positive it isnt in me still, I have checked everywhere. How can i be absolutely sure and stop worry without having to take a trip to the doctor?
