Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a large lipoma on my upper right thigh it has doubled in size over the past two weeks. Now I am extremely tired, having headaches in the back of my head x 4 days, and today I have a cramp in my other leg that has been there all day and feel like I am not breathing normal. Could this be a potassium deficiency? Do I need to go to ER or urgent care?
It is not normal for a lipoma to double in size so rapidly, they are slow growing masses. Rapid increase in size may occur in response to trauma to the area and also with infection. It would be best to have it assessed by your doctor.
Potassium deficiency occurs- (1) in vomiting and diarrhea (2)side effect of medication (3)alcohol abuse (4)certain hormonal conditions (5) poor diet
If none of these is present, then it is unlikely that you have low potassium.
It is possible that your symptoms are related to the rapid increase in size of the mass. You should visit your doctor.
Hi. Lipoma does not increase in size so rapidly nor it causes pain. Your symptoms are suggestive of an abscess that tiredness, fever and headache. If i was your treating doctor i would advise antibiotics, painkiller and seratiopeptidase for swelling ànd advise follow up after 5 days. If does not improve, then surgical incision and drainage is next option. I hope you got your answer,if you have further querry i will be pleased to help you
