Hi,

The possible causes of your pain are:
- Urinary tract infection
- Pelvic inflammatory disease
- Premenstrual pelvic pain
If the pain doesn't recur you may not need any specific treatment. Taking plenty of oral fluids and avoiding holding the urine can decrease the pain. If it recurs, please consult your gynecologist once, get examined and undergo investigations like urine routine and microscopy, vaginal swab for culture and sensitivity.

With this work up the problem can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly. If you miss your periods, please go for a pregnancy test, preferably blood test for pregnancy. If the serum beta HCG levels in the test are more than 5 mIU/mL, it indicates the possibility of pregnancy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
