How To Confirm That The Wart Has Been Completely Removed?

I had a wart removed from the top of my hand yesterday. The Dr. scraped it then cauterized it. It looks gross. The wart looked better. How do I care for the area now? He told me to use bacatracin but sometimes my skin doesn't react well to it and I don't want to create a problem that isnt there.
