How To Control Severe Hair Fall?

My hair seems limp, is fine and I am starting to get a receeding hairline like my father and grandfather but I am a 63 yr old woman. My daughter-in-law is a hairdresser and says I may have a thyroid problem. I have a lot of energy and do not feel fatigued. I DO have a stressful job and look at a computer for 9-10 hrs at work. What do you think is causing this thinness? I just think it is my age? Comments I am taking a multi vitamin pak that I buy at GNC for a women my age.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM.

I would keep a possibility of Androgenetic alopecia. It shows up as widened part width initially and later on as diffuse thinning and receding hair line(though receding hair line is not that common in females. The scalp is mostly covered in females).

As a treating doctor i usually advocate application of 2% minoxidil solution twice daily at the scalp skin.

An oral anti-androgen e.g finasteride can also be started by your treating dermatologist.

take care
regards
