How To Control Violent And Aggressive Behavior?

I been having problems with my girlfriend who is now pregnant. This is both of our second kid. First one together. We have a problem with saying hurtful things to each other. Its gets to the point where it gets physical. She hits me and i try to retrain her. We both have a lot built up inside. I never met my dad. My mother and I don t have the relationship we used to have when I was younger. My grandparents raised me and my grandfather passed three years ago. I still haven t gotten over it. He was my only father figure/grandfather. Things didn t go as planned with my sons mother. I thought we was going to get married and have more kids. Then I been going through things at work. I dont like living back here in my hometown. It s been three years since I been back. All of this comes out when I get upset and last night things got physical with my girlfriend and I whom is 3 months pregnant. She came at me and I pushed her back with my feet and it hit her stomach and she fell down to the ground. She punched the back of my head and came at me again and in the process of me trying to retrain her and push her away, my hand hit her face and swole up her eye a little bit and her ljp. I feel so terrible because this is the girl I love. We are 10 years apart. She admits that she can get crazy herself because she says hurtful things and then she gets so mad that she gets violent. I m trying to save this. We both are because we want to be a family. And to top it off my behavior gets like this when I have a beer. I suppose to be quiting but every now and then I have one and it triggers something in me. What can I do to better myself and be the man I need to be for my girlfriend as well as my son and myself? I need help.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the violent and aggressive behavior indicates combination of personality disorder with mood changes to significant level causing social disturbances. There are various modalities of care for such issue like:
- Counselling sessions with expert psychiatrist or psychologist
- Supportive medications in form of anxiolytic, mood elevator, anti depressant as selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor or others, multi vitamins, minerals, anti oxidants, sedative as melatonin or others as per the insomnia status
- Lifestyle modifications
- Meditations and YOGA prove very vital role in recovery
- Avoidance of triggers as heavy alcohol, psycho-stimulant or abuse substances as Ecstasy or amphetamines
- Joining of similar peer groups of support online or virtual
- Home and office staff support
- Regular walking, aerobics or swimming as per the individual preference and choice

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
