I am a 22 year old female who hasPectus Excavatum (I went to the doctor yesturday to see how bad it actually is) I have an S shaped spin and am scheduling other to tests to determine if there is anything wrong with my heart. The doctor says 1. the heart rotated, 2. the heart is misshaped or 3. there could a problem with one of my vavles (which he thinks is unlikely) but my heart doesn t sound normal so he scheduled a few tests in the upcoming weeks. Since my appointment yesterday, I have had this chest pain, sometimes pressure sometimes sharp but persistent throughout the day. Further, I have pain in my left shoulder, arm and neck and my fingers are tingling, also I am more tired then usual. Could this be from just them pushing on it yesterday? this makes me really anxious as to what could be going on with me.
It is imperative to perform a CT scan of the chest to calculate an index caller the Haller index to determine if you should be corrected surgically, there is an open procedure and a minimally invasive procedure called the Nuss procedure (treatment of choice in expert hands) The indications for surgery are: a haller index equal or above 2.5, significant changes in heart hemodynamics and/or aesthetic concern from the patient. Unfortunatelly you have passed the ideal age for surgical correction but it could still be performed. Greetings
