How To Cure Fracture Of Metatarsal Bone Behind The Little Finger?

My wife fractured her metatarsal bone behind her pinky toe about two weeks ago. She's upset that she won't be able to wear shoes for a big event that's coming up in another two weeks. She's able to put most of her weight on it now without hurting, but when should she be able to saftly start walking on it (including bending her toes) without the fancy boot brace?
