How To Cure Leg Pain?

leg...deep in my thigh that started on Wednesday. The pain has now spread through my knee down to my shin. Over the counter pain medicine isn't helping. I did not exercise or sustain any injury. What could this be? I am a 36 year old female, slightly overweight, with insulin resistance but no other major medical concerns.
