How To Cure Lump Under Skin Under The Bottom Eye Lid?

Hi Doctor or Nurse,
I have a firm lump under the skin under the bottom eye lid (not on the eye ball) for about a month now.. At times, it seems to grow, then early in the day/morning seems to be smaller. Although this last week it seemed to not change in size during the day (about a size of a large stick pin head (very small pearl size my grandmother used to use). It is located under my right eye near edge of eye hairs(but not on the edge where the hairs grow), and about a 1/2 or 3/4 " away from the tear duct (tear duct is fine). I rarely wear mascara, maybe once or twice a year.
The firm lump does not hurt when I touch it, but concerns me since it seemed to have appeared from no where and has grown a little. It is not noticeable from the surface, not red, nor protruding. I just feel it
As far as I can remember, there has been no incident that preceded the round lump forming under the skin.
I don't have health care insurance at this time and am away from home, across the Pacific Ocean,
I really appreciate any help. Thank You, Cynthia

Hi thanks for your question.
The firm lump under the skin of eye lid which you are having is most probably a stye or a chlazion.A stye is red lump located at the base of an eye lash or under or inside the eye lid.Stye results from a localized infection of the sebaceous glands of Zeis at the base of the eye lashes or infection of meibomian sebaceous glands lining the inside of eyelids. It is also called as Hordeolum. It has two types .The external stye from on the outside of the lids and can be seen as small red bump.Internal styes are infection of meibomian sebaceous glands lining the inside of eyelids and cause red bump underneath the lid.
A chalazion is most common complication that develops from stye.It is a form of scaring of glands in the eyelids that may include the formation of cysts.Chalazion or styes are common and harmless. As this lump is not red or you’re not having any pain chances of its being a chalazion are more than a stye.
Application of a warm compress or warmcloth to the affected area for 10 minutes 4 to 6 times a day can speed up rupture in case of stye.An antibiotic ointment installation in the eye is also recommended .In case it is a chalazion it needs surgical removal and consultation with a ophthalmologist is advisable. This is not a dangerous condition you can wait, till you return home and it get surgically removed.
Hope this answers your question,
