How To Cure Numbness, loss Of Hearing After A Eardrum Rupture?

My left eardrum ruptured due to an infection in November. It felt like I was descending in an airplaine, lots of pressure, then within hours a crackling noise and bloody drainage occured. I went to my doctor the next day and he gave me antibiotics, ear drops, antihistimine, and decongestant. I followed up with an ENT who said that after 5 days my perforation was healed. My ear still felt weird...hissing, numbness, loss of hearing. He told me this was normal, and that the ear drops were no longer necessary, but to finish the antibiotic and continue with the other two medications. It has been a month and a half since the incident, and my ear is still hissing, feels a little numb, and my hearing is off a little yet. The ENT said this is normal, and that it can take time for the eustacian tube to regain its ability to open and close normally. I hear a popping noise everytime I swallow. Is this normal, and how long does it take to get back to normal?

hello, thanks for ur query, air travel causing tympanic membrane rupture could be due to nasal pathology like deviated nasal septum, inferior turbinate hypertrophy or some obstruction where eusthacian tube not equalizing due to high pressure. post traumatic perforation will heal 4-6 months, if u cleared nasal obnormality. all d best. take care.
